Original Ribs and Corset drawing in colored pencil giclee print

$25.00

This is my original illustration of a deformed ribcage from chronic use of the corset which was common practice during the 16th-19th centuries.

True to my style, I added a few botanical elements to demonstrate new life emerging from old stereotypes about female beauty. The "heart" is a plant called a bleeding heart (which I thought was a perfect translation for the piece). The sagging ribcage becomes branches growing through the constraints of the corset on the opposite side with the birth of leaves represented as new life and modern ideas.

The original image was printed onto high-quality, archival, Canson paper using the giclee process. The original image was scanned at 600 dpi.

The print itself measures 8x10" and is protected behind a plastic sheet and is adhered gently with a strip of Washi tape to a piece of white mat board.

The print can be ordered in other sizes but currently it is in stock only in 8X10.
Convo me for sizing options.
